Furthermore, I decided to take this course because I plan on starting my own business in the future. It seemed like the obvious choice to enter a course that speaks specifically about the tools and abilities needed to become an entrepreneur. Admittedly i thought the course would be more about starting a business but I have an open mind about what I can learn. Below is a picture of the Wright brothers. I am going into my 5th year as a dual degree Mechanical and Aerospace Engineer and have always enjoyed the story of these brothers. On one hand my interest in flight drew them to me, but on the other hand there story of starting as a bike shop and then becoming the first to fly embodies the spirit required to be an entrepreneur. From this course I hope to learn more about how entrepreneurs like them think and operate in order to have success in my own future endeavors.
I really enjoyed reading your post and liked how you spoke about the people that inspire you and spark your curiosity. My father owns his own business as well, so I can definitely understand the risks and rewards that one undertakes when working for themselves. I too hope to learn from this class ideas and concepts that have real world applications.
ReplyDeleteMy father started his own company as well when we moved down to Miami from New Jersey. My father is an electrical engineer and now finds work as an independent contractor. It is one thing to have the idea and another to follow through with your plans.
ReplyDeleteI signed up for ENT3003, because I have an interest in entrepreneurship, but I do not have the right way of thinking. Through ENT3003 I plan to gain the skills and think more like an entrepreneur.
Best of luck to your dad in achieving his goals and to be successful. And after ENT3003 you will be able to provide your dad with new knowledge.
Hi, Caleb. I really enjoyed reading your entrepreneurship story. I believe there are a lot of associated with starting a business, but your father will be success on his company. I also enrolled in this course because the same reasons as you. I hope this class helps guide us towards opening a business in the future. Great post and keep up the good work!

ReplyDeleteIt takes a lot of guts to step out of something you having been doing for 20+ years to pursue your own venture. I applaud your dad's courage! It sounds like he, as well as the Wright Brothers, are great role models for you. I am curious if you will be doing your first reading reflection on the Wright Brothers.
