Duke has been consistently ranked has one of the worst energy companies in the state, by satisfaction. Generally satisfaction is based on price of energy and the disruptions in service. Duke has claimed it is trying to meet customer needs, but again this year their customers are dissatisfied.

Problem: Duke Energy has low customer satisfaction.

Who: This is bad for Duke Energy but essentially power companies have a local monopoly so that customers do not have another source of energy. This is also a problem for the customers of Duke Energy because they are continuing to receive poor service even after years of appeals to Duke energy to change their methods.

Opportunity 3

  1. Caleb, you definitely found some interesting articles. I can’t believe that problem with the off duty sheriff raising the question of special treatment for law enforcement. While the articles were perfect, I had a hard time seeing how you could form an opportunity from each of the stories that were shown.

  2. Caleb, I thought you picked some great articles, but it seems that it is hard to find opportunities in these articles. Most of them have to do with current companies that just need to do their jobs with better quality and attention to detail. The best article in your list was actually the first one, where there seems to be an opportunity for better officer accountability methods.

  4. Caleb, I thought you had an interesting selection of articles but the one that stuck out to me the most was the traffic stop passage. It was interesting to see that an officer did not follow protocol and was being correctly punished for it. Hopefully, the incident with this officer will serve as an example for other officers of what they need to do when they are in the line of duty. The other articles were not as interesting because they just required a business fixing a local problem but they still delivered the same point.

  5. Hi Caleb, I thought you made a great choice with the articles about Duke Energy and Frontier. I used to live in the Pinellas county areas and hear endless complaints from friends and family about problems with both producers.' The underlying issue is that within the area, both companies are either already holding a monopoly in the area or were given one by contract. Both companies are under no particular incentive to improve the quality of their services or reduce prices.

  6. I think your articles were really interesting-- I have never heard of a fly in zone! I can imagine there must be so many problems that arise especially since fly in zones aren't that popular. With that being said-- there is probably great opportunities for businesses to cater to these types of communities and make a lot of money. Thanks for sharing!
